I cannot express how much I love Topshop products. I love that their makeup is cruelty free; I love that what ever I try, it is consistently great quality; I love the packaging; and love the value at a really good price for most of their products. However with every brand, there's always one product which just doesn't really work, or I can't find a way to make it work. Today's review is on one such product - the illuminator in Reflect.
When I first saw this I thought it was a little unremarkable, pretty but easily skimmed over. It is marketed as an illuminator and has three shades which can all be swirled together or used individually. In the bottom most picture, the bottom swatch is the very subtle highlight, the next one up being the blush, then bronzer and finally them all together.
When you first touch the powder it is actually very hard, as in very well pressed and that would worry me if it were a normal powder. However because there is so little fall out it makes it great to control and build up the amount you use as this can get over board with the shimmer.
I don't really know what to think of this product. I bought it because it seemed like a great multi-use compact with pretty much can be a nice all over bronzer for those with dark skin tones. However as I am light-medium skinned, this is not too bad as a blush which gives quite a subtle shimmer for a glow, when applied lightly. Well I guess it is an iluminator then.
I feel like this would be fantastic as a setting blush over a cream blush like Benefit's Majorette which is a "blush booster". I've tried out Majorette with Rockatour on top and it was a slightly orange finish so I guess the pink of Reflect and peach of Majorette would be great together.
So in all, I don't recommend this as a must buy from Topshop. It's a nice product to have, but if you're fair to medium skinned you could have a bit of trouble trying to find your way around this powder.Try their lipsticks or eye products instead.
