I am so so sorry for the delays!!! My laptop has not been behaving (Weebly seems to have a lot of problems with it) and as a result I have not been able to post for such a long time. So, now I am going to sit here and write up a bunch of scheduled posts, hopefully. Thank you for your patience!
Anyway, I have been quite careless with my budget this year but I've surprisingly been able to hold back very well this holiday season. Not that the urge to purchase, purchase, purchase isn't there - so many Christmas sets and deals to drown However, during the craze of sales and being the spending junkie I am, I had to buy these stunningly packed lipsticks from OM She Aromatherapy. I am actually glad I bought these on sale, even though they retail for an affordable $14.95 a pop.
The casing itself is so on point for my tastes it is ridiculous, and also makes me wonder how I've walked passed the OM She stand so many times without these catching my eye. The lipsticks are packaged in elegant, slim tubes of what I am assuming is demi-matte gold painted metal, with the brand name in the middle. Of course there is no immediate way of seeing what colour is in what tube, but there are labels on the bottom. These tubes have a nice weight and are the most luxurious drugstore lipsticks I have ever come across.
Sadly, although the packaging is crazy lovely, it all comes down to performance in the end and the luxury just didn't translate on my lips. The formula claims to be demi-matte, but the lipsticks apply so creamily that they tend to slide around and settle into fine lines.
Joy, a pretty nude-coral, is the closest of the three to come to the semi-matte claims. However smoothly Joy glides onto lips, the finish gets uneven and patchy. Charm is a nice everyday pink colour, but is the one that settles most into fine lines. Sheba is a hot, true-red that looks more blue based in the bullet but is actually very orange toned on my lips - not a flattering shade for my yellow-toned SE Asian skin. Sheba applies relatively sheer and patchy and requires build up, which means trouble because then it just slides around all day, even with lip liner.
In all, however pretty the packaging, affordable and nice the swatches are, I do not think these lipsticks worth buying, unless you want to spend time using lip liner and carefully reapplying every few hours.
Rating: a disappointing 1/5
