Got my teeth cleaned today. The type of cleaning where the dentist digs into ones gums with a sharp tool and has the assistant use the suction-thing to suck up the excess blood and bacteria infested mouth water. I still don't understand why people want the 'freshly cleaned by dentists' teeth. Sure it's super awesome after the first hour when my gums have adjusted back from the prodding, but "freshly", really people? Anyway, off topic.
Today, I will be reviewing a recent acquisition - the Innoxa Bright Eyes gift pack. I bought this along with another few perfumes (will be reviewed along the track) and a light jacket from Pilgrim, but that's another story for another time. This pack includes: a soft kohl pencil in Jet Black, the Ultimate Lash mascara in Black; the Naturally Nude eye shadow palette; and a cosmetic bag. I bought this mainly because I was after a new makeup bag that's slightly smaller and less multi-functional than my current and because the palette. I can never have too many 'nude' palettes. It's the allure I swear, and the fact that it is in the same colour range as Topshop's Golden Aura palette which happens to be on my next buy list. The Bright Eyes set is now on sale at Myer for a discounted $14.

I didn't find anything special about the texture or the colour payoff from this kohl pencil, it basically felt like another eyeliner to me. When warmed up it is an intense black and draws on smoothly enough. However, I would still prefer my Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliners instead which are all smooth, buttery and very very long wearing. I have not tested this eyeliner out and about yet so i can't comment. The main plus side to this is the fact that it is made with vitamin E, but eh, I've never had skin issues when it came to eyeliners so that doesn't impress me much.
There isn't going to be much of a review on the mascara, I already have too many others to go through so I might pass this on to a friend or my sister. From first appearances, the formula looks dry and slightly clumpy and the brush is pretty standard, possibly better for creating thick and separated lashes. I prefer mascaras that make mine look full and bountiful. Also, this pack was already discounted so the mascara must be nearing its expiry date anyway.
Oh how do I describe thee, palette of mixed feelings that lean towards disappointment? First off, the packaging is not luxe, don't expect that. The palette is made of lightweight plastic that is incredibly sturdy, it also clasps really well and the mirror is of decent size. The foam applicator it comes with is actually a lot better than most drugstore palette applicators so that is a plus - a tiny plus.
There are two shimmery shades (center two), one satin (far left) and one matte (far right). I forgot to take pictures of the swatches i did before rushing out of the house and now I can't be bothered so this is an attempt to describe each through words, please excuse any foul language.
Satin white with yellow undertones - this is lovely, swatches to a white that really suits my pale, Asian skin and would be great as a highlight shade.
Shimmery taupe - goes on a little sheer and the gold shimmer really stands out more than the taupe itself. A meh and a half.
Shimmery bronze - this is my pick of the best in the bunch. Colour payoff is good and the shimmer complements it well, though if overdone its quite gaudy.
Matte brown black - A.W.F.U.L. On the first swipe I thought I didnt even put my finger on the shadow properly. Nothing. Just nothing. I had to really press my finger in and rub to even get a little colour and even then it was so so sheer. I hate it so much it pretty much ruined the rest of the set for me. This means I will definitely be getting the Topshop palette as I have already swatched it and am pleased with it.
The bag itself was okay. Material is hemp-like and lined with synthetic silk(?) so will make do for a decent carry around for my skincare products on holidays.
Rating: do-not-buy/10.
So there you have it, a review and a mini story of a dentist trip. Night all and thanks for reading :)
