I purchased this beautiful pot of powder way earlier in the year and I'm proud to say I have been using it pretty much everyday for the past few months. I can't find the box though, think I threw it away. Anyway, Jurlique's Rose Silk Finishing Powder claims to be a talc-free, translucent facial powder that refines complexion, reduces shine and leaves skin radiantly fresh; made out of corn and rice starch - which are natural ingredients to substitute talc - glycerin to moisturize and arnica which helps soothe and cool skin. It should be noted that this is marketed at those with normal skin, but it works very well with my somewhat very dry skin. I can not express how much I love this finishing powder. This was one of the first holy grail products of my year, the top product being theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer.
First up, the packaging. The powder comes in a sturdily packed, plastic casing with a nice sized mirror. There is even a rubber ring between the lid and pot to prevent any fall out while travelling. The puff I rarely use because its so darn attractive - I prefer to use a big fluffy brush to apply. There are a good amount of holes in the top which help control the amount of powder which comes out. I actually really like how much is released with just a little tap. Be sure to close the lid, with the puff inside, when tapping so the product doesn't go haywire.
When I first swatched the Silk Powder in Myer I just couldn't stop cooing at how wonderfully soft my hand-skin felt and the absolute invisible-mess of the powder; having a lovely sales assistant who explained to me all the skin loving qualities of this pot of goodness just convinced me even more to fork out $45 for 10g of product. If you like your powder's rose scented then this is the jackpot of rose smelling makeup in my opinion.
At first I applied this after I had finished all my makeup apart from mascara, but I found that it clung a little to dry spots, and slightly sheered out my blush and bronzer. It didn't make my makeup last eons into the night, but that might've been because I used powder products on top of liquid foundation. Instead, the best way to use this, I found, was to set - dab/press lightly into skin - my liquid foundation and concealer with this right after I leave it to soak in for three or so minutes. That way I could apply all my other powder products over the base without worrying about accidentally buffing off the base, as well as have the colours last a few hours longer.
This Australian made finishing powder, I highly recommend the Rose Silk one for anyone with normal-dry skin, Lavender Silk for normal-oily people and the Citrus Silk for those with very oily skin. The latter two recommendations I based on many reviews and research of Jurlique's own site when looking for which powder to get myself. I still have so much powder left even after months of use, so it is definitely a worthy investment; so going to repurchase.
Rating: 4.999999/5 (not too crazy on the rose scent, I have come to like it though)
