Basically the only time I would be willing to hear/read about chemistry is when I learn about things that are beneficial in makeup and skincare. For example, I know salicylic acid aids prevention of acne and the over consumption of Vitamin A can lead to birth defects. A recent little absorption of knowledge came in form of hyaluronic acid, which is a major component of skin hence when applied topically it can help repair and protect skin.
Part of my Iherb haul was this plastic tub of Episilk Lip Balm with Hyaluronic Acid. I won't bore you with the various aspects of the composition of this, but rather onto how the product works for me. As you can see in the above picture, this lip balm claims many things which I'm happy to say is all true.
The outer packaging is a tough, thin cardboard with a professional design. The only thing disappointing about the packaging is how cheap the actual plastic of the container feels. I guess getting used to the Nuxe Reve-de-miel's top notch frosted glass container allows me to be unimpressed with every other lip balm container though. You will also note how light this is, basically feels like you're holding an empty tub. Thankfully, upon opening it I found that it wasn't empty.
When I first touched it, I was worried this would be too hard to apply, or somehow the product had frozen solid during its shipment. However, after the warmth of my finger ran across the surface, I realised this is how the product is meant to be. It applies well, I only needed a little amount to cover both lips. On the lips it may feel a little too wet, even oily, but I'm happy to wait until it partially absorbs for the result it gives. The fact that this lip balm is so compressed makes it last so much longer. After three days, I've barely even scratched the top layer.
I have been using this morning and night for three days straight and the results are fantastic. My lips are getting noticeably less lined and chapped. At night this I let this absorb into my lips for 10 minutes before layering the Nuxe overnight. In the morning I wake up with wonderfully plump and smooth lip puckers.
For the price, longevity & result, I reward this great lip balm a 4.75/5 (-0.25 for the packaging which feels like it could break after a few falls)
