A few months ago I discovered a makeup artist on YouTube, Sinead of TheMakeupChair, and ever since she has changed my views on makeup application. I love her short and sweet videos and her really awesome Irish accent, and it doesn't hurt that she is so beautiful. Anyway, one of the products she was using caught my eyes and that was the Blank Canvas Cosmetics 6 Pan Contour/Highlight Palette #1 and after much deliberation over whether I should get a contour palette from BCC or Ebay, I went for this one, duh. I believe this palette is currently on sale still on the BCC website for AU$15ish with around AU$8 shipping.
My first reservation about purchasing these all the way from Ireland was if the powders would stay intact for travel. Considering how flimsy the actual plastic palette is, I was very impressed with how much bubble wrap it was encased in and how well they were packaged. Again, the palette itself is very light and slightly flimsy. I would not travel with this palette unless I bubble wrap it into it's cardboard box or something.
The other concern I had was on whether or not these powders would be chalky and "cheap". I am happy to report that these powders are very silky and finely milled, with minimal fall out. For the affordability and price, these six are all fantastic in terms of quality and colour payoff. The bottom picture includes swatches which have been lightly blended out so they are a little more indicative of what they look like on my yellow based, light skin. All the shades are completely matte, and would probably be more suited to warmer, pale to medium skin tones as a whole.
The setting powder looks very white in pan but once blended out properly it is completely translucent. I don't use the white powder very often as I have my Nars Translucent Crystal Pressed powder as a go to/holy grail already, but this does work quite well. The top middle powder is a yellow toned setting powder which is ridiculously perfect for setting my under eye concealer when I want a matte finish. I also use a mixture of the two contour powders to carve out some cheekbones and lessen out my relatively, square jawline.
I also love the blush as it is great for days where I don't feel like I want any blush on, but still need some to look alive. It's a lovely peach pink shade which gives an amazingly natural flush for fair - light skin. The only pan I don't use often at all is the bottom left one - a light peach toned finishing powder. Mainly that is because I don't really know how to use it yet, but it would probably work better on those with cool skin tones as a subtle warm-up-your-face shade.
Overall, I am in love with this pretty palette and would recommend it to anyone with pale to medium skin. However, the flimsy lid and case are not travel friendly, which sort of defeats the main purpose of an all in one palette.
Rating: 4.5/5
EDIT 25/11/2014: The white/translucent powder is AMAZING!! Normally I have long days, so my liquid mineral makeup is very susceptible to oxidizing. However, a dusting of this all over locks everything in place and keeps my base looking even a fantastic for hours. I LOVE THIS PALETTE SO MUCH.
