I don't know if it's the massive hype or the ridiculously expensive price point for such mediocre products that turns me away from Benefit almost every time I am near their counter. May be both actually. Sure the packaging is cute and all, if not a little classier than theBalm, but I just can't justify spending so much on things like foundations and boxed powders that can be so easily duped or are already made better in high end brands. Here in Australia, our cosmetics prices are absolutely mind boggling - for one boxed powder in the US it is about US$28, here in good ol' Oz, the same thing costs around AU$52. Just...ijdoisanfoadsngf.
So when my friend Lucy (who is an avid Benefit lover) notified me of Benefit's little free sample I was grateful for the chance to try something before completely avoiding the brand forever. All I had to do was walk up to a Benefit gal and say some password I don't remember and I had a tiny 3 ml tube to try of Benefit's the Porefessional. I'm going to keep this as short as I can by saying that I am very unimpressed.
3 ml of product gives me a week of use, which is alright. However, I did not notice any pore minimisation nor longer lasting makeup. There was a little evening of skin tone, and by little I mean barely anything, but it did give me a nice satin feeling to my skin. Nothing the Smashbox Photo-Finish Primer can't do.
Overall, I will not be purchasing this or any Benefit product again. At least, not while there are better choices on the market for the price ($53 at Myer. Yikes.)
